tsavo tours and safarisTsavo National park is located in the coast province of Kenya. The park is made of two separate parks, Tsavo East and Tsavo west and is the largest national park in Kenya. The parks are separated by the Nairobi – Mombasa highway.
The park is renowned for the man-eating lions that reputedly killed the workers who were building the Kenya – Uganda railway line.

Tsavo East covers an area of 13,747 square kilometers and consists of semi - arid grasslands and savanna. The park is generally flat with dry plains across which the river Galana flows. Other features include the Yatta plateau, Mudanda rock, Aruba dam and Lugard falls.

The park is popular due to vast amounts of wildlife seen including the big five that include lion, rhino, leopard, cape buffalo and elephant. Other wildlife seen include bush back, duikers, cheetah, Dikdik, hyena, giraffe, water buck and over 450 bird species have been recorded.

Tsavo west covers an area of 9,065 square kilometers and is popular for its magnificent scenery, Mzima springs, rhino sanctuary and varied wildlife. The park is known for bird life and large mammal’s such as cape buffalo, black rhino, elephant, lion and hippo. Other animals seen include giraffe, zebra, kudu, klipspringer, hyena among others.
