Masai Mara game reserve is the most popular game reserve in Kenya and regarded by many travelers as an essential stop on any tour of Africa. The reserve is named after the Masai, Kenya’s cattle herding nomads determined to preserve their traditions.

Masai Mara is situated at the heart of the Great Rift valley and is the northern extension of the vast Serengeti plains. The reserve is known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration. Over a million of wildebeests move through the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystem in search green pasture. The migration has to cross the Mara river where crocodiles prey on them.

Residents of the reserve are Masai giraffe, buffalo, elephant, eland and thousands of plains game including impala, zebra, topi, Thompsons and grant gazelles.
Predators seen include lion, leopard, cheetah, jackals, hyenas, servals cats among others with abundant bird life.
